Many thanks to Dick Saletzki for compiling our newsletter!
Easter Week Celebrations
Easter week begins on Sunday, April 5th with Passion Palm Sunday Services at 9:00am. On Thursday, April 9th we will celebrate Holy Thursday in the sanctuary at 6:30pm and Good Friday will be held at the First Methodist Church in Cortez at 6:30pm. The men will be serving breakfast on Easter Sunday from 7:30am to 8:30 followed by the church service at 9:00 and an Easter Egg Hunt immediately following the service. Spring will have arrived and many of the flowers will be blooming. What a beautiful time to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus will all the new life around us.
Church Workday
The annual Church Workday will be on Saturday, May 16th beginning at 9:00am. There is a list of many things that need to be accomplished such as reorganizing the supply rooms, cleaning the windows and screens, vacuuming the vents in the Sanctuary, painting the church sign and cleaning up the church grounds. The more people that can help will make the job go much faster as we hope to be through by noon. Bring your work clothes and tools and we will see you there. How does pizza for lunch sound?
Game Night
A game night has been planned for Friday, May 29th in the Fellowship Hall at 6:00pm. Bring your favorite games and a snack to share. Just a reminder for each adult attending to bring a picture of themselves when they were a child. We will post the pictures with a number under them and everyone is to guess who that child is. You must have been a beautiful baby because, baby, just look at you now!! Right?
Heavenly Fitness ends April 30th
The last day of Heavenly Fitness will be April 30th at which time we will take a summer break and will resume on Monday, September 7th. We have had very good attendance, often 8 to 10 ladies including several people from the community. We will have a new program in the fall making three programs we can alternate with. Exercising can be great fun especially when you are working out with all of your Christian friends to upbeat Christian music. The program is geared to all levels of fitness, from the beginner to the more advanced so plan on joining us for an hour of fun, alternative worship. You can contact Connie at 533-7398 for more information.
Monument Valley by Full Moon
A trip to Monument Valley for a Full Moon Tour is planned for Sunday, June 7th. We will leave after church and will travel 3 hours and 45 minutes to Mexican Hat, Utah where we will be staying at the San Juan Inn. We will have time to check in and have dinner before we go to Gouldings in Monument Valley where we will go on a 2 ½ hour tour starting at 8:00pm. The price of the tour is $36 per person and the room cost is $84 for two. If you have AARP or AAA card you can get a 10% discount on your room with your card. We will be taking two vans so hopefully no one will have to drive their own car unless they wish to.
On Monday, as we return home by Blanding and Montecello, there are many natural wonders we can visit. Be sure to bring your camera as the monolifts in Monument Valley by the light of the full moon will be a Kodak moment you will not want to miss.
There is a signup sheet in the Fellowship Hall if you would like to sign up right away, please call Pastor Craig and have him add your name to the list. Connie will be back from her trip on April 13th and she can answer any questions you may have.

- The sermon this morning: “Jesus Walks on Water.” The sermon tonight: “Searching for Jesus.”
- The peacemaking meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled due to a conflict.
- For those of you that have children and don’t know it, we have a nursery downstairs.
- Miss Charlene Mason sang “I Will Not Pass This Way Again,” giving obvious pleasure to the congregation.
- Next Thursday there will be tryouts for the choir. They need all the help they can get.
- Eight new choir robes are currently needed due to the addition of several new members and the deterioration of some of the older ones.

Ephesians 4:29-5:2
Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which you were marked with a seal for the day of redemption. Put away from you all bitterness and wrath and anger and wrangling and slander, together with all malice, and be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you. Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Proverbs 12:18
"Rash words are like sword thursts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing."
Proverbs 15:4
"The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit."
