Amy opened the meeting with prayer.

WON Team - Dee B. reported it looks like there will be two groups for the Companions in Christ study group. One that will meet weekly during they daytime and another that will meet monthly.

Transfer campout and service at Big Al’s Overlook. Paschals will bring a truckload of chairs. Potluck to follow the service.

Amy reported the problem with the gas tank leak in the van has been fixed.

Visitation with shut-ins was the next topic. Amy presented a list for people to sign up (in pairs or singly). Once folks have signed up, a calendar will be created to keep track of that. If you know of someone who would like a visitation, tell Amy W., Barb C. or Linda Walters. Barb reminded that in addition to visitation, we can help shovel snow, let them know P&D will deliver food, etc.

Joyful Noise – Jen shared a new plan for the kids’ portion of Joyful Noise using curriculum called “Godly Play.” A main emphasis is storytelling and God-centered activities that children participate in after hearing the story.

Amy reported that her church in Indiana has donated an entire Vacation Bible School curriculum for us to use in summer 2005 on the condition that we pass along the curriculum to another church when we are finished with it.

Advent programs were the next topic. Dee B. proposed putting together a devotional book for our young families to use during the Advent season. The devotionals are contributed by church members and then compiled into a booklet. Dee expects to need about 30 entries in the books and will put together a sign-up sheet for people to contribute their devotional stories.

Amy asked for volunteers to be on a committee to help plan the worship events leading up to Christmas. Connie G., Linda S. and Mary Ann and Jack O. all volunteered to help.

FINANCE: Treasurer Dan Corcoran presented a summary of income and expenditures to date and offered a detailed summary of the numbers. In a very general sense, we are on target with what we budgeted.

Amy reminded everyone that there are collection boxes at the bank, P&D, and probably elsewhere for people to donate money for school supplies. Discussion ensued as to how to distribute the money. Craig said he has talked to several teachers at the school and they will let him know of specific children that need supplies and also provide supplies in the classroom as needed.

Dee B. made a motion that the church match whatever funds are raised in the community up to $1,000. Mary Ann suggested the matching amount be a maximum of $500.

The motion then was made again to match up to $1,000. Connie G. seconded the motion. A vote was taken and the motion passed.

Mary Ann O. next brought up the silverware in the kitchen. She has ordered four additional settings as a donation and asked if anyone else wanted to contribute money for additional place settings.

Mary Ann O. also brought up how to schedule the building use. She and Linda W. think the Trustees should take that task over rather than have Craig handle it.

Mary Ann also brought up that in the past we have had a dinner for new teachers in Mancos.

The next Work of the Church meeting will be September 27.

Meeting adjourned at 12:04.

Respectfully submitted,
Dana Petersen
