Connie Goodell called the meeting to order and Pastor Craig opened with a prayer.
Various committees broke up to meet.
Clay Bader reconvened the meeting for reports.
FINANCE: Dan Corcoran distributed a financial report and discussed it. Of note, we have received $8,193 more in offerings than we anticipated (budgeted for) through June. We continue to be generally on budget Dan clarified several specific items.
Margie Russell made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report. Phyllis seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
TRUSTEES: Mary Ann Ott reported for the Trustees. Gwen Hawkins and Jennifer Paschal are going to take on working on the bathrooms. Linda and Amy volunteered to paint the nursery. The carpets in the nursery and church will be professionally cleaned. Jack Ott is going to prune the bushes on the north side of the Fellowship Hall. The Trustees would like to purchase a flame and cross sign to hang on the Fellowship Hall. Dale Wright has volunteered to paint the Fellowship Hall steps. Jeff Booton is going to reassess a leak around the bell on the church. Philip Walters is going to work on sticky door knobs here and there. The front pew is going to be cut shorter to allow for wheelchairs. Amy Wise will look in to what sort of preparation needs to be done before the sod on the east side is delivered. SnowCap sod is donating the sod for the cost of delivery only. Dale and Zane Wright volunteered to put new gravel at the east side of the parsonage this fall. Philip W. reported the second oven in the kitchen is fixed!
Craig Paschal reported on the property to the west of the church. It is going to be put up for sale and Craig would like us to consider purchasing it.
Amy W. requested permission to put recycle boxes out for plastic and paper.
Dana Petersen made a motion to allow Amy to buy a couple of bins with lids for this purpose. Linda Walters seconded.
Phyllis Johnson asked who is going to take it to Durango. Amy said she will be responsible for that.
Motion passed unanimously.
WON Team: VBS report from Connie G. Eighty children attended from five or more churches in town. 23 helpers made the week a success.
Connie reported the cost to attend the Senior Adult ministries conference in July 29 in Grand Junction is $10. She also requested money for a hotel and food. Barb C., Connie G., and Craig P.
Connie discussed upcoming activities for the Senior Adult ministries.
Amy distributed a flyer about the AIDS/HIV victims food/flower booth that she will start July 28 at the farmer’s market across from Joy’s.
The annual Transfer service will be Sunday, August 21, at 10 a.m. at the overlook. Barb Cover will reserve the campsite August 20.
The WON Team would like to give out free water at Mancos Days again. Several people volunteered to help and the details were generally hammered out.
Bootons will be hosting a potluck July 24 th at their house as our former pastor Ora Dailey will be in town.
We still need one other volunteer to teach Sunday school the 3 rd Sunday of each month.
Linda Walters would like to start a crafts club to make various items to sell at fundraisers. There was interest from several people present and the names of several others were thrown out as well.
PASTOR’S REPORT: Craig reported he will be gone the next two weeks.
He will put out jars again to collect money for school supplies. There was discussion about how much we agreed to match. A review of previous minutes will clarify this.
Craig asked for volunteers to take care of announcements, joys and concerns, etc. the next two Sundays. The Johnsons are doing the service July 10 and Duane Smith will be here July 17.
August 4,5,6 – Craig and Lynn Evans will be speaking at the women’s Walk to Emmaus in Hesperus.
Dan Corcoran reaffirmed his commitment to cleaning out the filing cabinet.
Phyllis J. asked for more volunteers to count money Sunday mornings. Dana P. and Margie R. volunteered to help.
Dee Booton reported on the Annual Conference budget for next year. Our apportionment for next year will be increased to $7,476 in 2006. She also reported on totals for the special offerings taken at Annual Conference.
Gwen advocated for a clean-up of the cry room and suggested it as an agenda item for the next meeting.
Clay adjourned the meeting at 12:36.
The next meeting will be August 14.
