Ora opened the meeting with prayer at Clay’s request.

Amy reminded everyone to turn in the “Concern Out of Which We Minister” sheets to her by Wednesday so future ministry priorities can be discussed at the Thursday, 3/4 meeting, 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Philip then reported for the Trustees the items needing to be completed. Shelving in the kitchen has been declared unnecessary because we already have a habit of storing too much junk anyway, the leaks in the bathrooms will be addressed when the weather improves, finishing the soffit on the parsonage garge is tentatively scheduled for 4/24, and a garbage disposal for the kitchen has been deemed not important enough to purchase right now.

WON Team report by Dee. Lighthouse attendance is averaging about a dozen a week, with the potential for 20 kids on any given Wednesday. Lighthouse needs additional teachers to help in this growing ministry, especially the three-week session running 3/17, 3/31 and 4/7. Lessons are already planned. We just need a teacher to facilitate the lessons.

Soup kitchen -- we would like to have a host/hostess from the church present at the Saturday lunches. Check for more information in the upcoming newsletter.

Newsletter items due to Linda by 3/4.

Easter breakfast will be by sign-up. Dick and Philip will provide ham. All other food will be done through a sign-up sheet to be put up by Philip. Breakfast will start being served at 8 a.m. Easter morning.

With regard to a Seder dinner, the directive from the conference is that we do one only in conjunction with a member of the Jewish faith. Ora will be teaching about the tradition during Lighthouse, but will not hold an actual Seder dinner.

There was discussion surrounding what to do Easter week with regard to a Thursday tenebrae service/Good Friday service. It was decided we will have a potluck WEDNESDAY during Joyful Noise, then a service Thursday evening. The Good Friday service will be in Cortez.

Amy will put together an egg hunt Easter Sunday for the kids.

Amy brought up the idea of a motion or resolution of some sort to clarify the church’s position with regard to the investment monies and whether, based on the decision to go to a part-time minister, those funds will still be available for community needs that arise in the future.

In response, Philip made a motion for the following resolution:

“Be it resolved that our efforts to exercise good stewardship over our financial resources shall not stand in the way of our commitment and responsibilities to community outreach.”

Linda seconded the motion.

Jean suggested this resolution would contradict the will of the congregation as put forth in the decision to go to a part-time minister and thus not use the investment funds.

A brief discussion ensued.

Clay called for a vote and the motion carried 11-1.

The meeting continued with Ora announcing that radio spots purchased with grant money from the conference will begin airing this week. The theme is the igniting ministries messages. These ads will air in conjunction with TV ads that are also being shown. Ora mentioned the new minister in Dolores has been very involved in getting these messages on the air.

We will again have an ad in the summer visitor’s guide. The cost for this is roughly $300-400. The layout will be generally the same with the addition of Lighthouse information, Ora reported.

Jean reported the “food folks” committee will be preparing food for the volunteers helping set up the Teen Maze at the fairgrounds. The food will be delivered Tuesday, 3/2.

Meeting adjourned at 12:10.
